Christmas is slightly different on the mission than at home. We had two Christmas Eve dinners yesterday. We had one at 4:00 and one at 7:00. The first one was at our branch president’s house and we had some really good chicken and fish. The second one was at a new member from our from our branches house and we had tamales and some other dishes from Guatemala. We also visited someone who the elders before me were previously teaching.
On Saturday we went to dinner at a members house who lives on the air force base here so It was pretty cool to go over there.
There are a lot of service opportunities here. On Thursday we helped out at a food bank and helped someone who some other elders in the district are teaching split logs and toss them in a trailer and then we unloaded them in someone else's house. It ended up taking a couple hours to do but he bought us lunch at a place with really good burgers previously. On Wednesday we helped out at some Christian charity organization and put food in bags and handed them out to people. We help out at a retirement home on Friday mornings as well.
Finding people interested in being taught can be difficult because everyone already is Christian and no one likes the Book of Mormon. They are good with missionaries talking with them about christ until they find out we’re Mormons. On the good side there have been a few recent baptisms in our area.
Yesterday both wards and the Spanish branch were all combined for the Christmas meeting at 10 o’clock. Today is a pretty chill day we opened our presents this morning and we're just hanging out so far. We'll go to a members house for a meal later today and see what else we do today.
Well that's about all I have for this week. See you next week.
Bye 👋
