Well, good morning another bright day here in the lovely city of Dalhart, the sun is up, and the town is up and cooking—the sun will be up at around 103⁰ today perfect weather to go swimming or even knock some doors.
So this week was busy it flew by pretty quick. We found out on Monday that some pipes in the church building were clogged and a bunch of water had leaked from out of the drains onto the floor and under the baptismal font making it rise up and float on the water. They weren't able to fix the drains this week and it made the building somewhat unusable hence not being able to have church Sunday which was yesterday.
On Tuesday we had a decent amount of lessons. For once most of them were in English we only had one Spanish lesson it was with our friend Juan who had a bunch of questions about our church and our stance on some things and let me tell you I found it a little difficult to say what the church believes in abortion and other issues so I resorted to reading what it said about them on the gospel topics and questions section in gospel library so thank goodness for that app🙏.
The following day happened to fall on a Wednesday. Nothing too particular about that day of the week but we did teach a few good lessons again including one with someone named Octavio. He had also a lot of questions so we talked for a good while about heaven and stuff and also talked about English. It's cool to see a lot of these Spanish speakers trying to pick up English. We’ve lately been advertising the English class we offer a little more to get more people over there but he speaks decent English as it is. Good day in all.
We had the English class previously spoken of the next day, Thursday. Also we helped out and did some service for the community center and washed dishes for them in the morning. We also had dinner with some members at 3 o’ clock so not that long after lunch and they just kept on giving us more food and cheesecake and jello until we could hardly even finish them. Later on we had our English class. We have one regular named Omar who knows zero English so we started from very basic and are now working our way through the small lesson class things that the book has. The hope is to get a bit more people to fill the class.
The day after that we had a branch cookout at the branch president's house he cooked a big thing of meat under ground and buried it for a day and took it back out some supper time. It was real good and everyone brought side dishes too to go with it. We also had one of our friends were teaching show up with her mother and with her son it definitely turned out well.
On Saturday we went out to the dump itself, more commonly referred to as Clayton, New Mexico. We had about as much success there as ever, so not much. We did at least have a decent lesson after we made it back to the promised land of Dalhart.
Sunday as mentioned earlier we did not have church so we had the sacrament at the branch presidents house with them. We had a long lesson in the early afternoon. And after dinner we had a really good lesson with 3 brothers from Guatemala who are here for a couple years working. They sit down on chairs next to each other and I'll be sitting across. It feels like teaching a little class because they all have comments to say and they share a Book of Mormon but it's awesome teaching them for once they actually understand the words I say and what we talk about.
But yeah that was the week from Monday to Sunday here in the panhandle of Texas. This week the big famous XIT rodeo is coming up. We will be able to help out with the food and barbecue this week when it's happening so that'll definitely be interesting. But until that happens
Adios
