Good morning brethren and sisteren welcome to yet another email from Elder Joe Rivera from Midland, Texas. This week was decently interesting kinda normal as well but may as well write a little bit about it while we're all here.
Last Tuesday we had zone conference here in town it was pretty good learned a whole lot and after that we had interviews which took basically the rest of the day. I did find out that one of my companions, the one who just started, will be headed off to Peru at the end of the transfer also my other companion will be headed home to Utah so I'll be the remaining one and get a new companion which should be plenty fun.
On Wednesday we had a lesson with some inactive members and we went to a baptism of another ward. On Thursday we had a lesson with some other members (I've never had so many member lesson ’til this area) and we had English class as well. English class has been a lot more solid here than either of my other areas—it’s a bit more organized.
Friday we had a lesson with Domingo who’s a member who was baptized a little over a year ago. It was a good lesson. He can’t make it church every week but he said he'd be able to make it this week. That would come in handy later. We also tried to have a lesson with our friend who came to church last week but we only talked to her husband still had a lesson he's just not as interested.
On Saturday afternoon we had a big Festa put on by the Stake in one of the church gyms. There was a ton of food and music from a bunch of different countries and Hispanic cultures. It was pretty neat and a lot of people were there.
Towards the end something kinda interesting happened. We had to head out early ‘cuz the sisters in our ward wanted us to come give their friend a blessing in their home so we got there and it turns out they weren’t there ,they had just left right before we got there, but they found someone who was pretty cool anyway we figured someone still needed a blessing .So after some praying and searching they decided on one of their other friends across town so we went over and the sisters went in first to see if they could have us come and give her a blessing. So after a little bit we came in it turns out she was struggling with depression all day being alone so the blessing really helped. They invited her to church after that and she was like probably not and after the lesson we left. Later on we called the sisters and said we felt like she still needed something so they sent her a scripture about the sacrament and said that they'd have a member over that morning to bring her to church. After a few unsuccessful tries of trying to recruit members, the one they got was Domingo who we taught on Friday who said he'd come to church. It was neat.
So the next day at church we get there and everyone mentioned in the story was there, also we had another one of our friends make it too. After that it was a normal Sunday afternoon driving around Midland between people.
And that's the week about the letter was a little longer than I meant originally especially the long incoherent mess of a story at the end there but hey we all got through it. Well that's about all well see how the rest of the transfer goes.
Adios
